I have been very fortunate to have had a very varied and interesting career and life. I started my career on site as a qualified industrial Electrician working for my family business,I worked my way through the ranks to Director status and ultimately successfully negotiated the sale to an Aim listed company back in 2007.
I stayed on with the company for 10 years as regional Director delivering many exciting and interesting water related projects basically ensuring the constant supply of water for five major Water companies in the UK.
In June 2016 after over 30 years in the water Utility business I decided that I would retire and spend time with my family, take some well needed holidays and do everything that I never had time to do. I am married to my lovely wife Helena and have two fantastic children. As a family we enjoy the beautiful countryside that surrounds us by walking and biking and in the winter we like to go skiing.
As a Trustee I feel I can utilise my experience in ensuring we have the safest and best schools whilst maintaining the highest standards.
In addition to being a trustee, I am presently the Executive Principal of The Moorlands Primary Federation (TMPF) Multi-Academy Trust (MAT).I have been working within our trust of schools since 2007 when joining St. Werburgh’s C.E. (A) Primary as Headteacher. During this time, I have been fortunate enough to work with so many amazing children and seen great changes in education and across the Staffordshire Moorlands. In September 2012 I changed role to become an Executive Headteacher across St. Werburgh’s C.E. (A) Primary and Dilhorne Endowed C.E. (A) Primary; this then extended to The Valley Primary in 2013, becoming TMPF. The three schools converted to academies in September 2016 and I led TMPF in becoming a MAT. In January 2015 I was seconded to also lead Great Wood Primary and in September 2016, this role incorporated Bishop Rawle C.E. (A) Primary. In September 2017 the two schools formally joined TMPF. In June 2018, I was honoured to be accredited as a National Leader of Education (NLE).
(Chair of the Pupil Welfare, Learning and Achievement Committee & Link Trustee for Bishop Rawle C.E. (A) Primary)
I have been a member of the Parent Forum at Bishop Rawle Primary School since its inception in September 2015. I have two daughters at Bishop Rawle Primary School and a keen interest in contributing to the oversight and development of the strategy and performance of the school within the MAT.
I have worked in the retail financial services sector for 13 years. I have owned a limited company and been self-employed during this time. I am a qualified, but not currently authorised (my role does not require it), financial adviser and pension specialist.
Team Manager – Paraplanning – Jones Sheridan Financial Consulting
I manage a team of five staff consisting of paraplanners and administrators. (A paraplanner, in our firm, is a technical report writer and researcher for a team of financial advisers looking after the financial planning needs of wealthy individuals, couples and families. Administrators support the paraplanners.)
I served as a long standing parent governor for Great Wood Primary School before becoming a trustee of the Moorlands Primary Federation. I am a member of the Pupil Welfare, Learning and Achievement Committee, the Premises and Safety Committee, and the Admissions, Appeals and Discipline Committee.
I am a professor of physics and am head of a division of scientists at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. This work involves basic research, project and safety management, and leadership of a division of research scientists.
Not surprisingly, I am particularly interested in those areas of the schools' activities which concern numeracy, science, technology, and engineering.
(Link Trustee for St. Werburgh’s C.E. Primary)
I am a qualified Solicitor and have worked at Beswicks Legal since 1998. My particular area of expertise is representing youths and vulnerable clients.
I was a pupil myself at St. Werburgh's and my two sons are currently pupils at this school.
I am a season ticket holder at Stoke City and still enjoy playing football whenever I can.
My am married to Sarah and we both enjoy the countryside of the Staffordshire Moorlands, as a family we love to be out walking and camping as often as possible. In my role as Trustee I am a member of the Pupil Welfare, Learning and Achievement Committee and I am keen to promote sporting and outdoor activities for children across our Federation.
