QUEEN ELIZABETH II

09/09/2022

QUEEN ELIZABETH II

We join the rest of the nation, Commonwealth and wider world in mourning the remarkable Queen Elizabeth II who sadly passed away on Thursday 8th September.

Queen Elizabeth has been part of all of our lives for 70 years, and in addition to being the longest reigning monarch to have served our country, she has also provided care, strength and hope in times of worry.

Her loss leaves us all feeling sad and marks a special time in the history of our nation.

As a proud Church school, we also mourn the passing of the Head of the Church of England and a lady with such incredible Christian faith.

We remember Her Majesty with the utmost fondness, admiration, and affection and send the very best wishes, love, thoughts and prayers to King Charles III and his family.

We may feel sad that she has passed, but as a school and Trust family, we celebrate in the memories which she leaves, the example of humility which she set, and the 70 years dedicated to serving the nation she so loved.

God Bless The Queen.

Ofsted say we are GOOD with OUTSTANDING features

Our lovely primary school has received two Outstanding gradings from Ofsted, with an overall judgement of Good.

We welcomed Ofsted to the school in May, and received a ‘Good’ judgement overall, with two elements receiving their highest grade of ‘Outstanding’.

Inspectors spent two days at our school, meeting with parents, Trustees, leaders from school and The Moorlands Primary Federation (our Multi-Academy Trust), staff and children.

The report said that ‘Behaviour and Attitudes’ are Outstanding and ‘Early Years Provision’ is also Outstanding. ‘The Quality of Education’, ‘Personal Development’ and ‘Leadership and Management’ each received a judgement of Good, which was also the overall judgement of the school.

The result represents a highly positive journey since the last report in June 2018, where the school was judged as Requiring Improvement. Since then, a new leadership structure has been embedded along with changes to the teaching team and the curriculum.

We are really proud that our pupils shone brightly!

Peace and Friendship.

Peace and Friendship.

The thoughts of the school and TMPF family are sent to all affected by the current conflict in Ukraine.

In school, we pray for – and talk about the importance of - peace and love, and we hope that this conflict can reach a swift and safe resolution and that the communities of the different nations can live and share God’s world in harmony.

As a school, our particular thoughts and prayers are sent to the children of Ukraine and those who either remain in the country, or have become refugees and been warmly welcomed by other nations in an act of care and love. We send our love to them and their family members and friends across the world.

We pray that world leaders can work together to reunite families and help all of the innocent people impacted on by this conflict, and return happiness and safety into their lives.

We live in hope and with faith that good and peace will prevail.

God Bless.

A Prayer for Ukraine.

A Prayer for Ukraine

God of peace and justice,
We pray for the people of Ukraine today,
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons,
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
That your spirit of comfort would draw near to them,
We pray for those with power over war or peace,
For wisdom, discernment and compassion
To guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear,
That you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

Amen

"We Will Remember Them"

On Thursday 11th November, Classes 2 and 3 joined with members of our local community at Dilhorne Cenotaph in a service of Remembrance. Pupils shared a poem written by one of our year 6 pupils, laid wreaths and read out the names of those brave men from Dilhorne who gave their lives.

Keith Hollins

Keith Hollins

It is with sadness that we learnt of the passing of Keith Hollins, former Headteacher and Executive Principal of The Cheadle Academy and Westwood College (amongst others), and CEO of the Staffordshire University Academies Trust.

Keith kindly offered advice and support as we formed The Moorlands Primary Federation and through his co-founding of the South Moorlands Schools Learning Community, created many positive opportunities for schools throughout our area.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

New Smiles for the New School Year

We are happy to start the new school year with some new smiles!

Although we were sad to see some of our pupils leave us in the summer and head off for new adventures, we are happy to welcome our new superstars, who have joined all of the other superstars here at Dilhorne Endowed C.E. Primary.
