St. Werburgh's welcome the NSPCC

St. Werburgh's welcome the NSPCC

Special assemblies were delivered by the NSPCC to our lovely children today, showing ways in which they can stay safe and confirming who to talk to if they feel worried.

The NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) delivered two assemblies: one for the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children; and one for our Key Stage 2 children, linked to their 'Speak Out Stay Safe' campaign.

The assemblies are part of our ongoing commitment to safeguard children and we were delighted to welcome Carol, Chris and Debbie to the hall and look forward to them re-joining us to deliver further workshops to Y5 and Y6.

...love one another.

Year 6 learn how to keep Safe and Sound

Year 6 spent the afternoon at Cheadle Fire Station enjoying the ‘Safe and Sound’ event which gave them plenty of ideas of how to keep themselves and others nice and safe.

The children enjoyed learning about: fire safety; healthy and unhealthy relationships; keeping money safe from 'scammers'; the dangers of anti-social behaviour; and how to deliver CPR.

Thanks to all who were able to support our wonderful Year 6 with this very important life information.

St. Weburgh's Supports 'Children in Need'

St. Weburgh's Supports 'Children in Need'

Huge thanks to all for your generosity and wonderful donations towards 'Children in Need'. We fund-raised in school through our non-uniform day and at our Y3/4 Tea Dance, and also by singing at Morrison's supermarket on Wednesday.

We raised a brilliant £233.49!

Seeing so much care for others is something which lives within our school motto of 'Love to learn love God, love one another', and yet again we are feeling immensely proud of the children's care and desire to help others to have a better life.

Thank you!

...love one another.

Strictly Tea Dance

The school hall turned into our very own Blackpool Tower ballroom as we hosted a Y3/4  ‘Strictly Tea Dance’.

Parents, grandparents, carers and other family members joined the children to watch them dance and were then also taught a few moves from the Cha Cha Cha, Waltz and Jive by the children!

It was a pleasure to also welcome Devon and Gracie from Leek School of Dance who joined us to give the children and other guests a brilliant Ballroom and Latin demonstration.

Our tea dance was a celebration of dance and PE and was the conclusion of a day-long training course for teaching staff from our school and others, led by P.E. Consultant (and parent) Mrs Holder. Many thanks for the great support and delicious cakes which also helped to raise money for ‘Children in Need’.

Keeeeeeep dancing!

Our Friends Sing for a Beautiful Cause

Our Friends Sing for a Beautiful Cause

We are delighted to share the exciting news that our friends at The Cheadle Academy have been undertaking something amazing for a very special cause.

On Friday 15th November, The Cheadle Academy Sixth Form Choir released their charity single 'My Oh My', which has been recorded in conjunction with Staffordshire University and the Dougie Mac Hospice.

The choir have been operating for two years and have, to date, raised an incredible £22,000 in memory of the school's wonderful former Senior Assistant Principal, Craig Beverley, who sadly passed away three years ago. We are proud that a number of former pupils from our family of schools have also been involved and, as a Trust, we fondly remember working with Craig.

The song, which is one from Craig's old band (he was a talented musician), can be purchased through iTunes, or for more information, visit:

 https://www.facebook.com/The Cheadle Academy/

Through the link, there are also numerous stories and videos of the progression of the choir over the last 18 months in the build up to the single release.

Good luck and we think that what you are doing is incredible!

Children sing to raise money for Children in Need

Children sing to raise money for Children in Need

A tuneful group of children showed off their lovely singing voices when performing in a Cheadle supermarket today, and raised funds for a wonderful cause.

The boys and girls from Years 5 and 6 sang a number of songs to help to raise money for 'Children in Need' and with it, entertained shoppers and staff alike.

We are very proud to see the children showing so much care for others which really captures the '...love one another' aspect of our school motto.
