Flexi-School
Hollinsclough CE Academy offer primary age children a flexi school education within our beautiful rural setting with stunning views of the countryside.
Flexi schooling is, as the name suggests, a more flexible approach to education. Being a very small rural primary academy affords our school the ability to offer some opportunities not readily offered elsewhere: flexi-schooling is one of these. We believe that people learn in many different ways, and we endeavour to provide a rich and varied learning environment that allows children to develop their skills and abilities.
What we offer at Hollinsclough CE Academy
Flexi-schooled education - the child attends on three agreed days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), wears our school uniform and participates fully in all elements of school life and education.
In addition to the above, the option to attend one or two of the non-core days each week (Monday or Friday or Monday and Friday). Where a child does not attend on these days, their parents/ carers are responsible for their education and the teaching of the subjects being delivered in school.
When in school, children must attend for the whole of the school day (whether flexi or non-core days) to minimise disruption to learning and must engage with all elements of the curriculum. Parents/ carers must specify in advance the non-core days when the children will be in school and must follow this.
Governmental guidelines
Parents/ carers must note the following statement provided by the Department for Education (DfE): ‘Where parents choose not to have their child educated by full-time attendance at school, then they are responsible for the whole of their child’s education.’ (DfE 2018)
The Education Act advised that parents are responsible for the education of their children – this applies to all parents in all circumstances and applies to the delivery of an appropriate education be that by the parent or through the state or independent sectors including individuals.
