Children's Zone
Children at The Valley Primary School have a number of roles and responsibilities to help to look after their school. The children perform these very well as ambassadors for their school and to provide a positive example to other pupils.
Children are elected to a number of these roles by either their classmates, or teammates, the staff, or even the whole school. This is very important to our school as it forms part of our teaching of two of the fundamental British values of democracy and mutual respect. These values are very important and our lived throughout our whole school and TMPF Trust.
The Eco Council is made-up of pupils, elected by their classmates. Children in all classes from Reception upwards are given the opportunity to nominate themselves to become an Eco Council Member and a class vote allows the children to then select one child from each year group to represent them for the school year. The role of the Eco Council is to empower children to learn about the school, local and global environments and to think about ways to protect these. Regular meetings are held and the members then cascade their suggestions to the rest of the school family.

The School Council at The Valley Primary School acts as the pupil voice across the school. The councillors are chosen by their peers in a democratic vote to act as representatives for their class. They are active in fundraising activities; raising awareness and money for charities like 'Children In Need' and The Poppy Appeal. They have also been key in raising awareness for issues important. The School Council will make important decisions about the running of their school and act as representatives at important local events.

Oak Class - Orla, Henry and Barnaby.
As part of Year 6, children have the opportunity to take on even more responsibility by campaigning to become a Team Captain. The process involves all Year 6 children writing a manifesto detailing their skills, leadership potential and aspirations for the school year ahead. Team Captains must maintain extremely high standards as they are role models for the rest of the school. This vital role at The Valley is a much sought-after position of responsibility in school and is taken very seriously by those elected.

Our library is run by a fantastic team of pupil librarians who work hard to keep our reading spaces tidy, welcoming and full of wonderful books. They help younger pupils choose stories, organise the shelves and make sure everyone enjoys their time in the library. Each pupil librarian has been specially chosen for their love of reading, their helpful attitude and their enthusiasm for sharing books with others.
Our librarians are: Orla, Marlie, Johanna, Eliza, Lydia, Bella, Zoe, and Violet.
