Story Logs Ignite Our Imagination

Our year 1/2 children enjoyed exploring our Story Logs this term.  In groups the children followed the trail of story logs, which were kindly donated by Mahia’s mum, following their instructions to create their own story.  You can see from our pictures that they had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed their adventure.

Our Captains of 2020/2021

Voting took place across Key Stage 2 to elect our captain and vice-captains for this academic year. Speeches were prepared and the candidates stood outside in front of their electorate to make their pledges of office. After some fine, moving speeches the colour teams cast their vote. We are very proud as a school to present our new captains and vice-captains for the yar. They are looking forward to representing the school as a role model and ambassador.

Welcome Back!

Welcome Back!

After a long wait we would like to welcome back our Great Wood family and our new starters into the Great Wood fold.

We know this is an unusual start to a new school year, but as always Great Wood is here for all our children and families. The team is very well prepared for the challenges ahead and are ready to teach and support our children.

We would ask you to refer to our September 2020 Information letter, issued in July for all the necessary changes to our school days and the way in which our school will now run.

We are dedicated to providing a safe, full and exciting education for all our pupils.

We can’t wait to see you all again!

September 2020 Back to School - Active School Travel

September 2020 Back to School - Active School Travel

Can you walk, scoot or cycle either all or some of the journey to and from school? September 2020 Back to School is not the normal start of the school year for any of our Staffordshire Schools, or their pupils. There is a risk that if more parents choose to use the car for the whole of the school journey areas will see increased congestion, parking problems and air pollution.

See how you can help: https://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/Education/Schooltransport/Active-school-travel/September-2020-Back-to-School-Active-School-Travel.aspx

Goodbye to our Wonderful Year 6

Our wonderful year six had a brilliant day together as they said their goodbyes to Great Wood. The pupils had a superb Leavers Lunch dished up for them by Lesley and Jan, it was the famous 'All Day Breakfast'. At the end of the day they each received a Leavers Goodie Bag which included a reading book, a mug with all their names on, a keepsake keyring and of course the Great Wood Teddy. Although it wasn't the usual finale to the end of school the pupils made the most of it and had a memorable day to end their time at Great Wood. We wish them all the best on their journey to High School.
